Zoro who is a promising Nigerian rapper with a lot to offer, was born Owoh Chimaobi Chrismathner. Zoro Swagbag has a concrete claim to the throne of the king of Igbo rap. The eastern hip hop artiste is however still walking in Phyno’s shadow. But we cannot underestimate his skill and intelligence. He is a Nigerian indigenous rapper who can deliver his flow in Igbo language. Its even more interesting because he always spices it up with bits of pidgin. This means that non-igbo speakers can understand him peripherally.
He gained nationwide Spotlight after a few impressive records. It was not easy for music lovers to ignore hit songs like 042, Otu, Owu sa gi, Safe journey and the Flavor assisted “Ogene”.
However it was his track titled “ Landlord” that announced him as a next rated artiste. It paved a way for him into the music industry. He has another mainstream jam titled “Buy the Bar” in which he features Falz the bad Guy.
Zoro Swagbag has worked with a lot of big names in the Nigerian music industry. The list of features includes upcoming acts like Rydda, Hcien, Lord Cornel, Falz the Bad guy, Kool P and Skip.
He’s also worked with veterans like Awilo Longomba, Slow Dog and Flavour.
After he released the first version of “Ogene” featuring Flavour; he went on to do a remix which had Lil Kesh, Ycee and Flavour on it. As usual, they all did an excellent job on the song and it was well received by fans across Nigeria. Most of Zoro Swagbag’s songs are produced by KezyKlef, a top Nigerian music producer based in Enugu.
Zoro Swagbag also followed up by releasing another hot banging hit. This time around he featured Igbo rap king, Phyno. The song titled “Achikolo” was also produced by KezyKlef. Few years ago, Zoro could easily be labelled a newcomer, who was still trying to find his rhythm. But now he has a niche Nigerian audience, he isn’t trying to get the attention anymore. Rather he’s trying to solidify his stance. The rise of Igbo rap, means that he’s in line to be one of the biggest names in Nigeria Music Industry in the near future.
